Boehringer Ingelheim joins the Charter of Diversity
Since the beginning of the year, Boehringer Ingelheim has been the 20th member of the Charter of Diversity. The research-based pharmaceutical company is one of Germany's leading companies committed to Diversity and Inclusion. "The diversity of the employees is an important success factor for Boehringer Ingelheim," explains Dr. Andreas Neumann, a member of the management team with responsibility for personnel. "We need the diversity of perspectives and the different skills to be innovative."
The initiative, founded in 2006, is a non-profit charitable organisation "Charity of Diversity", sponsored by Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. The Charter of Diversity is committed to a diverse and open organisational culture. In this way, the initiative promotes the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in the corporate world. In the meantime 2,450 companies and institutions have signed the Diversity Charter, forming the largest corporate network on diversity in Germany.
"We have been working closely with Boehringer Ingelheim for many years and are working together on various projects. This gave us a good insight into the company's diversity strategy. We are very pleased that Boehringer Ingelheim has chosen to become a member and thus actively shape the discourse on diversity in Germany," emphasises Aletta Gräfin von Hardenberg, the managing director of the association.
Boehringer Ingelheim had already signed the Charter of Diversity in 2012. With its membership, the company is now intensifying its commitment. From the outset, the German Diversity Day, an annual event, was an integral part of the commitment of the pharmaceutical company. Last year Boehringer Ingelheim organised the action day for the fourth time in a row. The employees made contact in a market-place on the topic of business-internal networks and lectured on the topics "unconscious bias", "women in leadership" as well as "intercultural intergenerational cooperation".
