To foster diversity and create an inclusive culture, we host Inclusive leadership & unconscious bias sessions for our worldwide employees. Our leaders and employees should be aware of their unconscious bias and how it impacts their people decisions. We understand that to be inclusive, we must be conscious of our bias and learn how to manage them.

We encourage engagement:
We encourage Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), voluntary employee-led groups that promote and support our diverse and inclusive company culture and are aligned with the strategy of Boehringer Ingelheim. ERGs advance the development of employees and (future) leaders, increase the engagement of our employees, and allow us to better reflect the diversity of our markets. Our ERGs are “the voice of and for Diversity” at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Boehringer Ingelheim’s ERGs are inclusive to everyone and pursue clearly defined objectives that are in alignment with the company’s orientation and interests defined in their Vision and Mission. They have an Executive Sponsor who is a member of the management team.

We are applying a more thorough D&I “lens” to our talent management processes. Our goal is to embed the principles of Diversity & Inclusion into talent and leadership development within:
- the succession planning for senior executives
- the leadership development and the growth of Next Generation Leaders
- both internal and external recruiting
In addition, we foster programmes for sponsoring, mentoring, and reverse mentoring of and between our leaders and employees. We track the status of our projects through our Dashboard and publish the latest updates on a regular basis.
