COVID-19 in India
Boehringer Ingelheim cares deeply about the well-being of humans and animals. We continue to do everything we can to safeguard the continued supply of medicines to the patients who rely on us, as well as to pet and poultry owners.
Boehringer Ingelheim has allocated a 1 Mio Euro support package to provide relief to underserved communities and patients impacted by COVID-19 in India. In 2021 -
- We are working to enhance access to nutrition, livelihood and sustenance amongst underserved tribal communities.
- We are enabling availability of hospital equipment including oxygen cylinders, and ambulances in underserved districts of Maharashtra.
- We are supporting our Making More Health partners, by covering salaries for employees and volunteers in the Karl Kübel Institute for Development. The KKID supports several initiatives with tribal communities in South India.
In 2020, we made a contribution of ~EUR 150,000 supporting various local initiatives. This includes aid via Americares India Foundation to support Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for setting up COVID-19 quarantine centers and donation of 1,000 PPEs, N95 masks for distribution to hospitals and providing 5,000 3 ply masks for healthcare workers to BMC. We have also made a significant contribution to the PM Cares Fund.
Despite all the logistical challenges, BI India has so far managed to continuously provide patients access to much-needed support and therapies.
